Despair
Despair
I flicked pebbles at the reformatory
Whispering “Let me in!”
“Let me in!”
Because you didn’t seem to care
So I made juvey my home
Only to be reformed
With stronger arms
To sling bricks at the Pen
Daring you to let me in
Defying whatever
Lurked within.
Now I hurl my head
At these prison bars
Indifferent to the scars
screaming, “Let me out!”
“Let me out!”
Yet you ignore my cry
Refusing to see
With your heart’s eye
The misery and despair
That has always been there
Slowly strangling
My soul.
